Glossary Term
Inner Pack
A smaller grouping of products inside a master carton, often used to organize inventory for faster picking and to protect items from damage.
Organizing Your Inventory
If you ship 100 units in a giant box, that’s a master carton. If those 100 units are split into 4 boxes of 25 inside that giant box, those are "Inner Packs." This is common in wholesale and B2B, as it allows retailers to buy a partial case without the distributor having to count individual units.
Labeling Inner Packs for FBA
Amazon usually wants you to label the individual units, but sometimes you may ship "Case Packed" items. It is vital to ensure that inner packs are either labeled correctly for individual sale or marked clearly so the warehouse staff doesn’t scan the wrong barcode by mistake.
- Protects individual units from being crushed.
- Speeds up the "Pick and Pack" process in the warehouse.
- Can be labeled with a separate GTIN or SKU.
