Glossary Term
High Return Rate
A metric indicating the frequency at which customers return a specific product, often leading to extra fees, suppressed listings, and damaged account health.
The Profit Killer: Returns
A high return rate is a red flag for Amazon. If your product is returned more often than the category average, Amazon may place a "Frequently Returned Item" badge on your listing, which kills your conversion rate. Even worse, high returns lead to disposal fees and lost shipping costs.
Preventing Returns with Better Labeling
Many returns happen because the customer received the wrong item or didn’t know how to use it. Clear labeling with **Full Product Titles** and included "Suffocation Warnings" or "Instructional Free Text" can set the right expectations and ensure the warehouse sends the right variation every time.
- Monitor your "Voice of the Customer" dashboard for return reasons.
- Improve packaging to prevent damage during transit.
- Ensure your FNSKU title matches the physical product exactly.
