Glossary Term

Vendor Central

An invite-only platform for manufacturers and distributors to sell their products in bulk directly to Amazon, who then sells them to customers as "Sold by Amazon."

Selling "To" Amazon (1P)

In Vendor Central, you are the supplier. Amazon sends you a Purchase Order (PO), you ship the goods to them, and Amazon takes over the pricing and shipping. This is great for high-volume manufacturers who don’t want to manage individual customer returns or PPC campaigns.

Strict Vendor Labeling Rules

Vendors are subject to even stricter labeling and shipping rules than 3P sellers. If a vendor shipment arrives without the correct GS1-128 pallet labels or missing PO information, Amazon will issue massive "Chargebacks" (fines) that can wipe out your profit margins on the whole order.

  • Invite-only; you cannot apply to be a Vendor.
  • Products carry the "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" tag.
  • Requires professional-grade labeling and BOL documentation.
