Pallet Labeling
The process of applying large, readable identification labels to all four sides of a shipping pallet to ensure it is correctly routed through the logistics network.
Amazon’s "Four-Side" Rule
When shipping via LTL, every pallet must have four labels””one on the top-center of each of the four sides. These labels contain the Shipment ID and the Pallet count (e.g., 1 of 4). If a pallet arrives at Amazon with labels on only two sides, the forklift driver might not see it, leading to delays or rejection.
Scannability at a Distance
Pallet labels are large (usually 4x6 inches) because they need to be scannable from a forklift. If your printer has low DPI or the label is smudged by the plastic wrap, it won’t scan. Always place the labels *over* the stretch wrap, not under it, to ensure a clean scan.
- Must include the Shipment ID barcode.
- Should be placed on the upper half of the pallet.
- Required for both Partnered and Non-Partnered carriers.
