Cross-Docking

A logistics practice where incoming goods are unloaded from a truck or container and directly loaded into outbound vehicles with little to no storage time in between.

Speeding Up the Supply Chain

Cross-docking is all about movement. Instead of placing products on a warehouse shelf for weeks, a 3PL or prep center receives your shipment, breaks it down, and immediately sends it back out to Amazon FBA centers. This reduces storage costs and gets your inventory "active" as quickly as possible.

The Role of Labeling in Cross-Docking

Because there is zero room for error in a cross-docking environment, labeling must be perfect. The warehouse team needs to be able to scan incoming pallets and immediately know which outbound truck they belong to. If labels are missing or unreadable, the entire "just-in-time" flow breaks down.

  • Significantly reduces warehouse storage fees.
  • Ideal for high-demand products with high turnover.
  • Requires tight synchronization between carriers.

Batching for Cross-Docking Efficiency

For sellers using cross-docking, batch printing labels with "Separators" is a game changer. LabelResizer can generate a single PDF for multiple SKUs with a physical separator label between them, allowing the warehouse staff to quickly sort and re-label boxes for different FBA destinations without getting confused.
